Today’s Subject: Space

List 4-5 book covers that feature space.

Life In Outer Space

Book: Life In Outer Space

Author(s): Melissa Keil

Details: Look at how the wire connecting the boy and girl’s computers winds through the title!

Relevance: The boy and girl are both main characters. And the boy is supposed to be geeky so I guess being absorbed in his computer fits.

Overall Feeling: Cool.

Infinite Moment Of Us

Book: The Infinite Moment Of Us

Author(s): Lauren Myracle

Details: It’s just so pretty! And the lines make it look like a map.

Relevance: Love story!

Overall Feeling: Beautiful.

For Darkness Shows The Stars

Book: For Darkness Shows The Stars

Relevance: Space is the relevance.

Overall Feeling: Pretty. As most things with space are.

Across The Universe

Details: The space turns into two faces.

Relevance: Space and kissing.

Blurb: What does it take to survive aboard a spaceship fueled by lies?

I happen to have a thing for good book covers. Who doesn’t? Book Cover Love is where I focus on my favorites. I might not have even read the book!

Today’s Subject: Heart To Heart

List 4-5 book covers that feature hearts.

Dash & Lily's ok Of Dares

Book: Dash & Lily’s Book Of Dares

Author(s): Rachel Cohn and David Levithan

Details: Hearts, hearts, hearts! There’s a heart on the stoplight, the snow is made of hearts… it’s just so cute!

Relevance: You can see that this book is set in the city.

Overall Feeling: Really cute and fluffy.

The Brokenhearted

Book: The Brokenhearted

Author(s): Amelia Kahaney

Details: The heart is made of MACHINE PARTS. If that doesn’t scream awesome I don’t know what does.

Relevance: *Goes to check Amazon synopsis* So this book is about a girl who is equipped with a bionic heart after an accident. So I’d say that this cover fits in perfectly with the story.

Blurb: My heart stopped. My life started.

Overall Feeling: Dark and very cool.

Love And Other Unknown Variables

Book: Love And Other Unknown Variables

Author(s): Shannon Lee Alexander

Details: Math! I don’t like actually doing it, but it looks great on book covers! And let me tell you, this cover is saturated.

Relevance: It looks like the main character of this book is super smart and has his life planned out. So all those equations certainly reflect his personality.

Overall Feeling: For some reason this cover just makes me feel good.

The Statistical Probability Of Love At First Sight

Book: The Statistical Probability Of Love At First Sight

Author(s): Jennifer E. Smith

Details: I love how the couple in the heart are the only people in focus. All the others are rushing on, and it makes it look like time has stopped for those in love. The typography is also pretty.

Relevance: You can see they’re in an airport, which is where the story takes place.

Overall Feeling: Sugary Sweet.

The Book Of Broken Hearts

Book: The Book Of Broken Hearts

Author(s): Sarah Ockler

Details: I just adore the simplicity of this cover, and how the book’s pages are bent into a heart.

Relevance: I think the book represents the sort of rule she and her sisters made: never date a Vargas boy.

Overall Feeling: Pretty.

Today’s Subject: Typography

List 4-5 book covers where focus is on the title

This Song Will Save Your Life, by Leila Sales

Book: This Song Will Save Your Life

Author(s): Leila Sales

Details: The pink letters spell LOVE! I also like how it says “a novel” inside the “O”.

Relevance: The main character of this story becomes a DJ, so I’d say the girl with a pair of headphones is pretty appropriate.

Overall Feeling: It’s sort of pretty, but also fun.

House Of Ivy And Sorrow, by Natalie Whipple

Book: House Of Ivy And Sorrow

Author(s): Natalie Whipple

Details: The title is made out of IVY! Is that not the coolest thing ever?!

Relevance: Well, I just read the Amazon preview for this book (gotta do your research!), and people (in the book) say that the witch’s house is under the bridge, draped in ivy and sorrow. So I’m going to deem the ivy relevant.

Overall Feeling: Very cool and a little haunting.

The Way We Fall, by Megan Crewe

Book: The Way We Fall

Author(s): Megan Crewe

Details: You can see two people walking along a road inside the letters.

Relevance: I’m going to assume that one of those two people is Kaelyn (the main character), and the other must be the “former rival” she teams up with.

Overall Feeling: Intense.

Me, Earl And The Dying Girl

Book: Me And Earl And The Dying Girl

Author(s): Jesse Andrews

Details: It’s like a pop-up book! There’s so much going on, but it all works together really well. Can you see Earl kicking over the letter “L”?

Relevance: This cover has all the main characters on it. (However cartoony)

Overall Feeling: Fun.

sinceyouasked[1]

Book: Since You Asked

Author(s): Maurene Goo

Blurb: High School. So funny I forgot to laugh.

Overall Feeling: Sarcastic.

16248037[1]

Book: Life After Theft

Author(s): Aprilynne Pike

Details: The pretty landscape reflected in the glasses.

Relevance: I’m not sure if that landscape is the main setting of the book, but if it isn’t, there isn’t anything relevant to the story on this cover.

Overall Feeling: Pretty.

Today’s Subject: Michael Vey Series

Michael Vey: Prisoner Of Cell 25

fd80c8205aa7ea7bc4f2f8bf423d22c2[1]

Book: Michael Vey: Prisoner Of Cell 25

Author(s): Richard Paul Evans

Details: Look at that lightning bolt in his name! I’m only going to mention it once, since it’s on all the books in this series, but I think it’s a nice touch.

Relevance: The electricity around the boy’s hand and high-tech cell are definitely part of the book.

Overall Feeling: Slightly ominous and futuristic.

Michaels Vey: Rise Of The Elgen

Book: Michael Vey: Rise Of The Elgen

Author(s): Richard Paul Evans

Details: The rats. Glowing-eyed rats! With electricity! *shudder*

Relevance: First off, you might want to remember those creepy rats. They’re kind of important. But behind them, it looks like the boy (Michael Vey, we’ll assume) is trying to protect somebody. More than one somebody. A group? He is sort of their leader (read the books!).

Overall Feeling: Awesome.

Michael Vey: Battle Of The Ampere

9781442475113[1]

Book: Michael Vey: Battle Of The Ampere

Author(s): Richard Paul Evans

Details: Behind that stunning lights show, you can see that the boy’s in a jungle.

Relevance: Go back to that jungle. South America is the setting for this book.

Overall Feeling: Amazingly pretty in a something-totally-kick-butt-is-about-to-go-on-here way.

Also, I couldn’t find a picture small enough to go here, but the cover for the next book in this series, Michael Vey: Hunt For Jade Dragon, was recently revealed on the Michael Vey Official Fan Page (Facebook). Click on the link, because trust me, it’s the best one of them all in my opinion (for now.)
